Sita was alone in the cottage. Ravana,King of Lanka appeared there assuming the form of a Sage. He stood outside the cottage and begged for alms saying “Bhavati Bhikshandehi”. Sita brought some fruits to handover them to the hermit.
She remembered Lakshman’s orderly voice. So she didn’t come out of the line. She called the sage to come and take the fruits. Ravan said “ Mother, I don’t go into anybody’shouse. Why can’t you come forth and give them”.
Sita thought and crossed the line to give fruits to the sage. No sooner did Sita came out, Ravan appeared and abducted her and took her in his Pushpak Viman and flew to the sky. Sita was crying for help.
